Tim, have you discussed the carb size with Bob M? I know he is helping you with the build , and I'm sure he has some data on which carb size to go with. I'd consult with him on it. He's worked with plenty of these builds , and I'm sure with several different sizes of carbs.

I have he said dominator is what is needed unless I cannot fit them then I must find a 4150 that fits my needs the best I can ...he said the dominator will be best for me though

On my fountain tim, before I switched to race style hatches, it needed clearance for the small blowers. So they cut the bottom side of the hatch out, and some of the foam from the cushion. They installed inserts in that cutout, and my sunpad was retained and you'd never know anything was done under it. Same thing on my buddy's top gun.

I'm sure Tim is smart enough to know you take advice from the guy whose been the done that. Not a keyboard expert on the sidelines with no experience or anything that is running actually.
Tim, if you need a mug picture posted or a new banana seat you know who to call.
If you decide quick fuel I get great pricing, let me know.
They also have a tech department, whatever they tell you I tend to go one size bigger.:D

I thought about that too but The hatch is actually recess down in the center it's really hard to explain and I don't have a boat at home to get pictures.

This is what I found:

The auger but on the right was marked, "for extreme measure only". Probably for all the bracket racing stuff.

Found this in a drawer labeled "choke horn removal tool" :

Huh, learn something every day. Who knew that that's all it takes to build and setup custom stuff?

Somebody been to Nickerson shop!!!!

Call BLP Products ( Bo Laws Products ) in Florida . Talk to Joe , or Mike . They have a 850 with a Dominator Base Plate. Works awesome on big CI .
These guys ( namely Bo) were building carbs for Everything from Drag Racing to Nascar and Boats , before these other guys were even born .
They manufacture all the Holley Billet Parts for Holley , they make most of the billet parts these other guys put on their carbs !
You will appreciate the smaller venturi 850 for the driveability , the Dominator is a PITA unless you are WFO. You might loose 10HP on the big end , but you wont notice unless you dyno it.
Ive seen DOMs lose power in the Mid Range , due too Low Venturi velocity and poor distribution, compared to 850-830's .

Good info from another thread. Funny, the bigger carb made even more torque at 3000RPM, and more HP up top. Not the first time i've seen that, thats for sure. 22FT lbs more at 3000, 16HP at 5500 RPM. I would have liked to see how much difference at 6000RPM.

I specifically remember Tom saying to me that in all the 25+ years of dyno testing engines he has never seen a carb "follow" as well on a naturally aspirated engine as what mine did on that day. "Follow" meaning the power curve was extremely good for the application and usable RPM range my engine was being used for. Heck, I have heard of some guys using a Holley 800cfm on a 540cid marine engine with excellent results!

BUT, we did run a 950hp Holley bact to back vs the 830hp just for comparison. Didn't really see a noticable difference until about 5400rpm. Here's the diff in HP/TQ we experienced...

RPM
3000 592TQ 338HP 830cfm
3000 614TQ 351HP 950cfm

3500 598TQ 398HP 830cfm
