Tks guys for sharing. Gonna get pull up. Boat is a flat deck with complete walk front to rear on the sides so either would be much better than toe stubbing. Although going in soon for prosthetic leg which will leads me to believe I will prolly be a tad clumsy for a while as well. At least it won't hurt on my left side anyway. Lol.

Regardless you think the 6" would be adequate for 32' that weighs 6600 pds. I have 1/2" lines and will only slip occasionally in a season. Not much party rafting up in these parts either. I had bought some really nice heavy duty 8" stationary for the restoration a couple years back however they just look a little big for the boat and wanna swap out anyway.

Here is a pic of same boat with deck mods. Mines in the stall putting final touches on glass work and getting near paint.

I have 6" pull ups on my hawk and can't tie anything more than a 3/8 line to them. A little embarrassing pulling in with a 40' boat and throwing a piece of damn clothesline to tie it up

I agree, I'm not a fan of the pull up 6". PIA to tie up.

Been thinking about changing all the cleats on my boat it pisses me off so bad.

I had the cleats below on my last boat, really liked them.

Glad I inquired cause i thought 6" woulda been plenty however after hearing comments sounds like I need 8's. I absolutely hate fighting lines through cleats. Given that I'm going with flush type mount the extra length won't be as big of an issue.

For another option - I've installed these for extra tie points where I didn't want to drill a hole for a drain.

They fold up and down.

My 280 originally came with standard 8 inch cleats on the bow, midship and stern. I got tired of stubbing by toe and almost tripping so I replaced them all with 8 inch flush pull up cleats. Used 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch lines with no problem.

Fast forward to the VR 1. It came with 8 inch pull ups on the stern and bow. Midship it had these silly 45.5 inch pull up cleats that were miserable even with a 3/8 inch line. I had made up my mind to replace them and was thinking about using the 6 inch ones. Luckily my wife decided to give me the 8 inch model cleats for Christmas. When I mentioned that I had been thinking of a smaller cleat she said that I was forgetting that often we had to double up with a mooring line and a line to hang a fender. Smartest thing I ever did was to marry that girl.

I have had both the button pop up and the pull up types, I prefer the pull up as they looked sleeker.

Another option would be to contact OSO member Mange from Sweden. He makes some sweet recessed cleats. Pics can be found in The Activator section in a couple different threads.
