Walmart oil prices.....
Is there a difference between walmart Castrol GTX oil and auto parts stores?? THey are $7 dollars a 5qt jug cheaper than Orielly's and autozone. GTX 20w-50 is Approx $15 at walmart and $22 at parts store...
|
Same stuff. I buy Mobil 1 at Walmart for my Truck and wife's car. Save about $30 an oil change and I have a Diamond account with the auto parts store...
|
Great pricing on Mobil 1. Most flavors are around $26 or so for a jug.

$16 with free 2 shipping if member:

I got to the point, that I rarely shop at these chain parts stores anymore. Most lines of products they carry are now things like "duralast", "murray", "tough one" and whatever other house labels they carry now. They simply did this to avoid price matching imo.
This week I ordered a AC condenser for my Lincoln. Oreillys wanted 140 bucks, autozone about the same, and advance 180 bucks. Amazon, 80 bucks, free shipping, and it was a BRAND name, not "tough one" or god knows what. Plus I don't have to deal with some nitwit who ask's if my truck is 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive, when I am purchasing a tail light bulb. And NO, I don't need any fuel injector cleaner today. Same reason I shop at rockauto so much for my car parts. I like names like Wagner, Bendix, raybestos, AC delco, motorcraft, mopar, timken, skf, etc, and they have those parts in stock at prices less than the "house garbage" they sell at the chain stores. I even buy spark plugs, filters, |

If I didn't have a shelf full of it from the last time they had it on sale; I'd be stocking up again. Also, FWIW, a lot of those chain stores like Advance Auto, Napa, AutoZone offer and honor a military discount. That really earns my business. Every one I mentioned above; and a few others, don't even ask to see my ID anymore. |
They started selling Rotella T at my local home depot.
|
out drive gear lube is cheaper at wally world too.... About 5 bucks a qt cheaper...
|
I usually buy Mobil 1 at Walmart. These typically sell mystic greases, but lately I have noticed some stores don't offer it anymore?
|
Walmart is a necessary evil for me. I don't buy much there, but between Mobil 1 15-50 oil and QS HP gear lube, I save about $100.
|
The volume and pricing demand is why they are cheaper, like it or not, Wal MArt just has some stuff for great prices, people hate Wal Mart, I don't care, I look out for me sometimes, otherwise I totally support my local small town buisnesses...
People have told the Wal Mart spark plugs are "rejects" I just don't see it.... |

Next oil change same oil and filter from AUTO PARTS STORE and my oil pressure is back up. So when your there buying there kool aid get some of that meat too. http://www.businessweek.com/innovate..._wal-mart.html.

I've asked for clarification on their FB page on Wal*Mart sold oils. I've been using it for years and no issues.
I do NOT buy oil filters there. I only buy Wix/Napa oil filters. |
The snapper lawn mower story might sway the un-swayable.

I'm sorry but anyone who thinks that the oil companies are going to make a special oil for or sell a defective oil thru walmart ............

Same oil at wal mart is all over the place.. |
I've got 400 hours on Wally World 15W50. Still runs like new and doesn't burn a drop. Great oil pressure too. I must get lucky and always pick up the jugs they intended for O'Reilly's that got mixed in with the Wally jugs.
|
On this walmart oil debate, it would be interesting as Walmart's house Super Tech brand get's pretty good test reviews for many of their types of oils.
We all know by now, most companies selling to Walmart, Home Depot, or etc has lesser/cheaper models of there products that are sold exclusive or near exclusive to those places....however different product #'s, model names, etc.... Look at house fixtures - pretty easy to see. Anyway - I'd be shocked if Mobil did this with there Mobil 1 Synthetic oils.....but I've been shocked before and continue to be shocked near every day (atleast a few times a week) in my business what products are made like absolute schit. |

I never paid close attention, but found this out once trying to return some oil I stockpiled for a vehicle I had sold. |

Last Benz went 357,000 mostly on $24 Walmart Mobil 1. Sold it at 357,000 miles. It's still driving around town.I don't believe Walmart oil is any different then the $36 auto parts store Mobil 1.

Same oil at wal mart is all over the place.. See post #24. That walmart kool aid is good stuff.;) |
So what you are saying is the oil company has a special line just for walmart? So what, walmart wants their name on it somewhere. That's just a label change. To change the oil it's self..... I would be more in line that the oil companies sell a better oil in a cheap jug then go thru the expense of running a special line of cheap oil. Just like gas. It all comes from the same place. It's just the additives they dump in before it gets to the gas station that makes it Shell, Exxon, etc. I see all the gas station trucks lined up at the same fuel terminal on my ride past daily.

one must be very careful when he goes looking for snapper!
|
Wally mart puts the screws to their suppliers, who then cheapen up any way possible to maintain profitability.
Personally I will not step foot in one of their small business killing empires. |
Walmart is no slouch but we are talking about Exxon Mobil here. You are not putting the screws to them.
