Great info. One thing I did learn, be careful when googling "Johnson lifters". Interesting websites pop up:party-smiley-004::poopoo:

Sure, other companies make a big deal about using a bigger wheels, but.....from my old experiences with solid rollers the biggest failures I was a part of was with spread forks. Comp, Crane, etc. I have always worried about spreading forks because of that and in my mind, who gives a rats azz about a liifter being able to be rebuilt if the damn forks spread and/or weaken. Can't / shouldn't rebuild those !

I cant say I have seen fork style lifters break at the fork, in normal operation. Most lifter failures I have seen have been the axle/wheel assembly, or tie bar. Some of the baddest solid roller high rpm designs have been using the fork style lifters for some time now. Even in the heavy duty industrial engines, like Caterpillars, Macks, Volvos, etc, use fork style roller lifters. I cant say that i buy into that theory, that the smaller wheel is the way to go with the shrouded body from a durability standpoint. If you're busting tool steel forks on a marine pleasure hyd cammed engine, you have other issues going on imo.

Morel doesnt rebuild the hydraulic lifters, just the solids.

How did I twist your words? You said you dont care for the fork style lifters, and prefer the encapsulated roller wheel. I commented on that, stating I do not buy into that.

Just stating facts that there are plenty of engines out there, in many applications, using fork style lifters successfully. The modern chrysler hemi is another one.

Also, I do think there is more to lifter wheel diameter, than just marketing propoganda. You may disagree, and thats what this forum is for, its just conversation.

Is the limo amphibious ? You know for quick getaways in case of flash flood?

EDIT:

It`s all making sense now
