Does this motor look rebuilt

read my post again slowly so you can understand. the motors where factory sealed 2000 merc 500 hps' before i opened them up to inspect and freshen. if i didn't put bearings in it how are they 1994? they didn't even make a 500hp in 1994. i don't think merc had 6 yr old stock in bearings. the bearings are the same ones that came in the motors in 2000. when i pulled them they were perfect. no one person on here is saying how long that motor sat before it was taken apart, if it had water in it or was gas washed with no oil, it dosent take but a day to rust. once again i told dale to send me the motor but he didn't want to drive to nj so i told him to ship it and he didnt' want to spend the 250 bucks. i offered more than once so you can all stop with the bs witch hunt. btw, i never said dale was a bad guy, just didn't want to send the motor back because of a few dollars. find me another engine builder that will tell you it's ok to tear thier motor apart and send them the bill. to many know it alls on here, everyone has something to say. put your friendship with dale aside and think about it.
I'm betting it's a little of both. You're reputation precedes you around here, and I kept quiet for a long time to see how this would play out.
Like tommy, I had an engine do this to me. The Lycoming in my Mooney sat in a humid climate for several years without being run, it looked Exactly like this inside. Surface rust on timing set and distributor gears, crank counterweights, and the bottom of the cylinder bores are dead giveaways. Even the pushrod guide plates are rusty.
If you in fact took this engine apart, and put it back together in this condition, I'm even more flabbergasted at your engine building "skills"

And obviously and self respecting "engine builder" knows the difference between a gen V and gen VI, right????
That timing cover sure looks like a paper gasket gen V style to me.
And no HP500 in 1994, I thought you knew all about merc engines??? Oh wait you only deal in 1000HP and up, you only bring your lowly 500s around here for charity for us poor oso members.

I absolutely loved that airplane. It was a completely restored 66 C model. Long story short, when they did.the rest they sent the 10 hour engine out for teardown etc. Since it had been sitting. After a few hours it was evident it was never torn down. Ended up eating a cam and the rest was history...

I'm curious..... What Self Respecting Engine Builder , Would Reuse Bearings ??? From a BBC no less? Are they That Expensive ?
If you told me that , after I bought that Engine and it Blew.... I'd drive the 20 Hrs just to Beat Your Ass out of Principle ! 1994 Date Code Bearings , left dry , probably started to delaminate the overlay , and
shed all of the overlay off .
