Default Long row back

It took 2 hours to idle to Huron, OH from Kelly's Island. Instead of a broken rocker, we could have really hurt the engine if the rocker would have broken at full song vs. just starting to get on plane. The lifter and cam will be bore scoped this week and with any luck we won't have any additional damage. We have a spare Jessel exhaust rocker so if all goes well we should make the LEOPA Fall Poker Run. It is likely time to change out these rockers and freshen these engines as we have about 80 hours....lot's of time 6000-6500 RPM.

If you have the money put some steel ones on it at least the exhaust.

It will start to happen a lot now they have a cycle life.

Not likely going to steel, but will be re-looking at the solid alum Jessel rockers. As the valve train was set up on the SpinTron, we don't want to change anything/much so we don't have to retest, change pushrods, etc. I will be reviewing the 2016 winter plan with Mike Riley (MRE Power Products) and revisit the option for the Jessel solid alum rockers vs. this lighten style with the slot. I am not unhappy with the life we got out of these rocker arms. Also, it was my decision to not freshen the engines last winter and the plan has been and still is to rebuild the engines this winter. Assuming the lifter and cam are not damaged, for 2015 we will just replace the broken lifter (have a spare) so we can then participate in the LEOPA Fall PR and then do a complete refresh this winter. I'm thinking that one more set of fresh engines will more than last my shift.
The cam is a 55mm and I think the duration is 262/268. Pretty good lift but would have look it up. The exhaust wall push rods are .165 wall, would have check the intake PR specs. We have about 500 ci with 4.60 bore and 3.80 stroke....very similar geometry to the SBC and the APBA Super Cat engines.

How many hours did you have on your Jessel rockers when they broke? Did you break multiple rockers at the same time?
