go with your proposed build you will be happy with it for what u r looking for. I have built a 540 and 548, with the same basic setup and now I have a 509 doing the same. all making basically same hp(575-620). actually have been running a 489 with the 741 cam in it 10.5:1 comp and running well for 2 seasons. making 550hp.

You might consider talking to ATECO , ask for bill. 847-623-2737. Built a pair of 540 short decks, out of HP500s , ran great , with good manners. And great torque. Very reliable . Spend the extra money on the dyno time. It is worth it. Drop them in and they run.
