Saginaw to Brazilian actuator question.

I'm changing from the older Saginaw actuator to the newer Brazilian style, I have 2 questions (for now).
1) My newer Brazilian has the manifold adaptor for add on hyd. steering. I am not going with external hyd. at this time SO what do I do with the two hyd. fittings on the manifold? Do I just put a cap on each of them?
2) I have read here that I will need to replace the P/S hoses. Is that correct and why?
Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Hope I understand what you are asking, but swapping from the old style unit to the new the cylinder is no longer used, you loose the 2 small hoses, the other 2 just your pressure and return to pump, the newer one uses O-ring seats and usually need to be replaced, best way is to change the fitting on back of pump to use O-ring style as well and use a newer line, the return just a new style

I really do not understand what you are saying ezstriper.
Can anybody help me out. Thanks

Going from the old style to the new, you have to place the hoses. Its been a bit since I have converted one, but I believe the newer one is metric threads. Regardless, they don't have the same threads. The old style was a GM part that was used on the 69 to I believe 82 corvette power assist steering.

Also if you can post a pic of the adapter, I can tell you if you must remove it or you can just cap them

basicly you are replacing 2 componants with one, easy to do, the part that looks like just a cylinder with 2 hoses will not be replaced along with the 2 short hoses that connect to the valve, the valve mounts the same as the old and now you just have to change the lines to the new style

Here is a link to pictures of what I have. http://houston.craigslist.org/bpo/5308960760.html
Thanks

Ok... someone had external steering on that ... You can plug the brass fittings.

OK so just plug the brass fittings until I can afford the externals of hyd. steering.
Now I think (?) the larger fitting (on the actuator) goes to the cooler and the smaller fitting is the hi-pressure side and goes to the pump, correct?
Gotta get hoses made.
Bawana thank you and all others for the help.
