Default Will low oil hurt 500efi?

I was not aware that the 500efi is known to burn some oil and didn't check like I should have during season. When I just winterized boat I realized that there was only 3.5 quarts, atleast that's what I was able to pull. No alarms ever went off during season and there is no evidence of metal in oil... Is there a good chance I could have damaged internals? The motor is in a fountain fever 29. Thanks

As long as you never lost oil pressure, it would never know the difference. You are good to go.

RuninaFever. I would suggest You remove the oil filter your oil filter and cut it open at the flange, threaded end. Remove the end and pull the paper filter open and look for debris. This is my first step in trouble shooting an engine potential failures. You may call me if you wish. Kyle 29FountainFun. 517-896-4860

Excellent advice, and an easy way to get good info.

I opened filter and didn't see any signs of any debris at all, so hopefully I'm all good. Only a 190 hrs on motor so that would have sucked. Thanks

4.5 quarts of oil is a lot to lose/use over a season. Do you have an oil temp gauge?

3.5 not 4.5... Only holds 7 quarts and that is only what I was able to pull. Engine holds some and filter as well but doesn't smoke and temp and pressure all good.

You're correct, 3.5 quarts. How many hours did you run this season?
