If the alternator output terminal stud is causing the issue, the alternator rear housing can be rotated in relation to the front housing, possibly giving you the needed clearance.

Old Thread Similar issue.

As part of my rebuild I am fitting Gil Mercruiser Manifolds on a Gen IV 454 Magnum, with 12SI case alternators and the Mercruiser 96116 Alternator Power Steering bracket.
The issue is the case clearance between the alternator case and the block or manifold.
I have ~1/4" of alternator movement between the two. Not enough to change a belt without removing the alternator.

I ordered what I thought was the Relocation bracket from Hardin Marine (421-PFB90) after I received it I had the same issue.
I did a takeoff on the centers and both brackets were the same. (See attached picture)

- Before I make my own or start shopping alternators can anyone offer alternatives?
- Is the bracket from IMCO different? Can anyone provide the triangle dimensions to the alternator pivot point for the IMCO bracket? (As I shown for the 421-PFB90 and 96116)

Frustrated.. (At least the Bay froze over yesterday so I do not have the bug...)
Dan
