I rebuilt some carbs for a buddy last year. Needle and seat was 90% clogged by a piece of rubber that came from somewhere in his fuel system. I would imagine, that he would not have seen a loss in fuel psi, but certainly a lean afr reading.

This gauge looks like a must for any piece of mind on a custom build. Not knocking fuel pressure gauge, I have one of those also.
Anybody added data logging to monitor with vac/tps/rpm/afr? Looks easy to add tps to carb.

I have not used the data logging yet, most likely won't for my set up. but maybe in the future if I decide to make more power.

Keep us posted if you end up using it

If it's that clogged and he didn't feel it laying over he needs to pay better attention to how it's running.

Like a huge loss in rpm.

Some like EGT's however AFR's is a much easier I think and ultimately the best way to maximize HP while egt is extremely important as well however applications can very much more with a broader band of temps making most HP. I'd like to have both to be honest however going AFR.

I'm running the AEM "failsafe" gauge..

http://www.aemelectronics.com/sites/...failsafe_0.jpg

Logs RPM MAP and AFR.

It can be set up to activate a warning if your A/F falls out of the range you specify.. :)

I've welded into Gil's with blown engines but prefer not to do it on cmi's
