rotella oil

Is it a possibility of the combination of the Rotella and cooler temps? Good call adding the stats. Keep a look out in this section here before to long. I'm going to start a thread on a pair of built 496's without coolers altogether. This is for test and information only. Will be posting oil temps at 2,800, 4,000 & 5,600 plus along with actual water temps. Coolers and oil stat housings will be nearby however I am going to post the length of time run at each rpm along with oil temps. Going with mobile 1 racing 20-50.

Plus I run it in all our golf course maintenance equipment and carts without any issues. Most our maintenance equipment runs full throttle for dam near 6 hrs a day, 7 days a week. I'm glad this thread was started also. Thumbs up!

Many times it's all about presentation nowadays. What's in this bottle is by chance the same as what's in this one. But the logo and cool color quart and graphics sells itself. Must be good if it looks good right??? Kinda like many of the parts we run in our engines. There is a lot of private labeling going on Although some designed and built to specific specs however still built under the same roof so to speak. To tell you the truth I just hope we the USA continue build them. I drive a gmc truck for plowing etc and a navigator for pimping and it drives me nuts when I need SAE and metric to work on them. Wtf.

I appreciate the advice and concern. I've been at this offshore boating a while now myself. Don't mean to sound like a smart azz rather just would like the information out for others to see. good - bad - indifferent. I have sizable coolers at hand with oil stat housings. Once again this is for testing and to share information with others who are interested in results. Will be documented and videod as well so no BS.

HA- when you do this I'll follow you around. If your oil temps spike like I think they will, I'll tow you back to the dock. Maybe we can pack your bilge full of dry ice to keep things cool.

OP, I ran into the same probs with similar set up. 500 with vortech, cold oil, and always goo on everything. Chased it for a while, then added Canton Tstat and the probs went away. I also found that if you have a pile of sludge and goo, you will only burn so much of that off from previous problems. So if you start with new motor and hotter oil, you may eliminate the sludge all together. I run Rotella mostly also. Good luck-

150 for an oil temp is way to cold. 180 should be the min to flash off any condensate. Oil is tested for viscosity at 210 F.
Put some oil t-stats in and keep the temps up.
Zinc doesn't fall out of suspension, zinc is a consumable reserve boundary lubricant and one of the reasons you change oil is to replenish zinc. It also is an anti-oxidant.
Racing oil, may not have the detergent [package you need for longer drains because as normal maintenance on a race motor, the oil usually gets changed after every race and the detergent package is replaced.
