Better cam

Which would be the better cam for a 540-555 build? A lunati 245/250 duration and 629 lift 112 lsa or a 741 298/306 610/632 112 lsa. Which would make more torque and hp and live the longest?

10:1 555ci, with Dart heads, my opinion, 741 cam is too small. Especially for a twin engine setup, going into a 28 pantera. That cam will not get you to your HP goal of 700.

If those were my only two options, I'd go with the Lunati.

What off the shelf cam would you suggest?

Exhaust is as big a factor as the others. ? Running dry to the tip. Ect

Yes

Call Bob Madera and have the cam build just for your needs.

Those cams are no where near big enough for that cube engine.

Twin engine 28FT vee bottom, twin 555ci , I certainly don't think you need "max low rpm grunt" short duration cam at the expense of upper RPM power. Now, if you had a 43 Scarab , things might be a little different.

Considering the 28 Pantera came available with a single HP500, I certainly dont think having say, 1200ftlbs of torque total, instead of 1300, is going to make the boat a slug accelerating from 50-90. Having 1400HP total, will certainly make a faster boat, than 1250hp total, in your case.

From what I recall, you have a 10:1, Dart 310 Pro 1 heads, Dart Single plane intakes, and looking for 700hp . i'd be looking at something like this myself. But I would call howards, and get it in billet with an iron gear . Assuming you are willing to spin the engine to 5800-6000 rpm wide open. If only 5500, than these would be a little big.

These numbers are based off what I have for Dart 310 Flow data, and what my cam software and simulation software trend towards, as well as the handful of similar engines I've been around the dyno with.
