Problems found and fixed!

The biggest issue was the ground for the ignition module was loose, so this was affecting the engine that was dragging.

I also changed the jets down a couple of sizes in the secondarys, and while I was doing that I cleaned the carbs again. While on the lake I tested a pair of Hydromotive QIV props. In the past I liked them better than the Bravo props.

So here are the results. Labbed Bravo 26 props from BBlades I hit 80 MPH @5500. The QIV 24 props I hit 77.5 @5200. I then ran the QIV's with the hatch cracked 3" and I gained .5 MPH. The Bravo's were obviously faster and felt better as well. So at the start of this I was at 80 with 28 P (30 castings) labbed Bravos at 4800 rpms with B1X drives. I finished at 80 MPH with XR drives and 26P Bravo's. No idea if I lost anything with the XR's but I'm back to where I started, so I'm happy with that!

Glad you found the problem. I am still playing with props on my boat. I also need to lean it out a little because it is sooting up the back of the boat.

I've tried 5 different sets of props, I'm glad I finally found the the right set. I think the boxes are slowing me down a bit, but thats fine, the boat really handles nice with them. I saw your posts in the prop section, are you sticking with the Bravo or Maximus?

The boat likes the Bravo 4 blades but it isn't pretty getting on plane. My stock 28 that is probably 15 years old turns 6100 at 112 MPH. I bought it for my SCARAB. I am going to send my Maximus 28 to BBlades and see if they can make it more friendly to my boat. I am probably going to buy a labbed BRAVO 28 - that should put me right at 6400 RPM.
The stock Maximus causes WAY too much transom lift. To the point that the boat rides on the prop and the bow like a three point hydro. Top speed was 95 and a VERY rough ride - when I let off the throttle it was like I slammed on the brakes. If I wasn't holding the steering wheel I would have bit the dash. I didn't try a lot of trim so I don't know how it would respond. I will have it labbed and see how it responds to the changes. The Maximus gets on plane better so I could use it when I am just taking it easy.

The fun of totally new set-ups. I've tried 5 different sets of props over the past summer. The BBlades labbed 26's are the best prop for my current set up. The boxes really changed everything. If I try and trim up from 0 at anything under 45 mph the boat porpoises like crazy. Prior to the boxes I would run about 3 on the trim at the same speed. It's crazy how sensitive it is. If I tap the trim to say .5 it will start to porpoise. Good luck with your set up, hopefully you can get it figured out prior to winter. Nothing worse than not having it somewhat dialed in and having it drive you nuts all winter.

Now I know why you drive 5 hours to boat Mike. It's not just the sandy dune shorelines and bright blue waters. Btw Boat running well and thanks for the ride the Sunday. It was much needed after dealing with a bunch of tourist all week.
