Lost two msd boxes in 4 weeks this season. moving to crank triggers and Daytona boxes over the winter. May use front mount distributors as well if I can get the cam drive to clear circulating water pumps...

Are you using the MSD noise filter?

After seeing this post I went and opened up the MSD that came with my boat (it is not running yet) but I guess I will be going another way too. I live in the desert too so not a lot of humidity.

Not being a dick but my Pro Comp (8000's) never did that and I boat in brackish water, store outside and live 500 feet from the water. Have 3 of them in 2 different boats and the newest is 6 years old and I have never even replaced a cap they still look that good (and I check regularly). My MSD boxes seem to like them too.

MSD will totally rebuild/ replace your box if you send it back to them for like 75 bucks. I buy used ones off of eBay with no risk. If it don't work then just send it to them. I bought two Nascar versions (epoxy filled, clear backs) and by the time it was over I had less then 250 in both of them fresh from MSD.

No thanks. Not interested in MsD. Boxes came with the boat as did spares. I've had my rounds with msd. New boxes bad right out of the box coils bad two in a season... No thanks I don't mind spending money but I refuse to spend it on junk.

Yup, Procomp doesn't like to F*k people either.. Look how their old boxes where made inside the box until they got caught. They also totally copied MSD's exterior of the box, and got nailed incourt.

Just saying guys. Got my Pro comp dist's of eBay years ago and they have worked fine and did not do what the o/p's did. And they are not in some run of the mill 330's either. As for MSD's, I'll knock wood but never had an issue (after I got them back from the factory) with their boxes either but I always look for the off road / race versions.

That is correct because of being filled with epoxy.
