So we are supposed to believe 325's take that much more cam (253, 239 .680" 110LSA) to make same hp as the 315's ?
Pretty hard to believe. Maybe I'm missing some other big differences in the 540's ?
Let the test begin.

and he had 950 carbs, so I know its not my carbs, just seems odd mine do not make the power right? or is it me?? It's not the build process so then what... I pump 165 average compression last fall across the board, is it me or does that seem weak?
And earlier someone said a 650 qith a Crane 741 (236, 244 , .632" 112 LSA) made 700hp.

I had a 540 with 741 cam 12 years ago. Dart block, Merlin 320cc heads, Dart single plane, 1050 Dominator, stainless marine exhaust. I'd have to dig out the dyno sheet, but it was right at 600hp in the 5400-5500 range. 100HP from simply bolting AFR 315's on? Those merlins sucked, but 100HP? I don't know. The 741 was a popular 502/540 cam for a long time. I don't remember many 540's making 700HP with it, nor at 6000rpm.

Sounds about right for the compression/cam you have.

I also find it hard to believe, that the 741 cam, similar to merc's 525 EFI cam, is making 540ish HP in an edelbrock headed 502, but add 38 cubes, AFR heads, and gain 160HP with basically same cam?

Anyone ever try the crane 139791 in a 540 + build. I know it was mentioned in a post not long ago but think it was used in reference to another cam. 246/254-680/680 on 114.
