Manley Extream Duty w/ Inconel Exhaust
|
Im running the inconel tulip style valves afr sends with their heads, i had the chambers, valves, pistons swaintech coated back when i built it to 950 hp, the exhaust valves looked like they had funny heat cracks under the head after 100 hours so we put same thing in new, later on after i set up my machine shop we put one in lathe and polished it in one spot, it was just the thermal coating cracking so i threw money away for no reason, the replacement valves have 300 hrs on them and been cleaned up/recut slightly at each rebuild. I have always had pistons coated but never bothered doing the exhaust ports, chambers or valves again as the stuff in the chambers was 1/2 gone at 100 hrs

As regards to the oil added to your fuel. I have used Marvel Mystery oil for many years. Worked in Aviation for a few years, almost all air cooled aircraft engines we saw. I would see it in their baggage compartments. Customers swore by it. I have only used it in my carburetor engines. I have not used it in any of my fuel injected engines. This helps with cooling of the exhaust valves, I was told. Just sharing my experience.

Octane Supreme is the only additive that actually has lead in it. All the other substitutes on the market are just that substitutes and contain no lead. We found it very beneficial adding 2stroke oil every fill-up at a 100:1 ratio. With general maintenance tear downs top ends looked much better. Mercury actually recommends a 2 stroke mix with there 1350&up motors. I think a lot of problems we have now is the fuel is simply to dry. They have taken all the lubricants out of it. Either buy race fuel, aviation fuel or add two stroke oil every fill-up two extend the life of the top end. No spark plugs do not foul out. You get a little puff of smoke at start-up and other than smelling like a weed wacker at idle you would never know the difference.
Mileage was increased, and the engines ran way quieter. The ultra low sulpher diesel is very dry, and has zero lube. I suspect the better mileage was from a bit better ring seal. |
Wonder what ever happened to MMB and his Ronald McDonald boat .
He was so smart, knew nothing but always ready to tell you how dumb you are and how smart he is. Pretty sure he had the short man syndrome. |
