The part that blows me away is there all forged in the same place for the most part its just the quality control once it get to each company here in the US.

Your not alone. I look at everything when I'm browsing at parts for various builds and what not and it's crazy. Along with what your saying eagle claims to have the strongest imported rods. Who knows? Like you and others is mentioned it's more about where they end up here and who does the finishing. I have machine shop check everything before assm regardless where they come from including US cranks and rods.

What would really be interesting to find out is how many actual China manufacturers there are coming up with all these cranks and rods? That bothers me more than the amount of companies in the US doing the finish machining and quality control.

FF so you have scat in one and eagle in the other? I might have read that wrong but find interesting. Your not part of the OCD club. Lol..

No both engines have eagle I have to have them identical!

Used scat in the past and been happier with clearances...

As far as finish if anyone buys rods and cranks and does not go over them for final sizing and just toss them
In, you will have issues, nonpart is ready to go when it's a shortblock...

How much power you think scat rotating assm with arp 2000 bolts are good for assuming build is spot on and balanced?

Seems like I read a post here a while back from an active OSO member and they were pushing 1,000 hp plus but build never was intended for that much however never had any issues. It was a customer build that changed midway.

So the next question would be the scat crank hp.

Btw those promaxx heads that were tugging at you while at Valakos were mine. Seems like everybody has seen them but me. Lol. I bought them with the intent of R&D head to see what they were all about and Valako gave them a big thumbs up so going to use for builds.

I didn't think 1000 is out of line at all, or more ... depends on rpm spun and balancing quality

The heads looked nice right out of the box I'm tempted at buying a set for my build.....it has me actually second guessing the 540 totally and just do a 509 with new rods and pistons. I can return the crank and my pistons are on back order anyway.... then buy some good heads and go hydraulic roller. Just thinking my MPI intake is going to limit me any ways even with a ton of work and a 540 I'm sure is a good engine to make more power then just 600.....just listen to what some of the guys here recommended

You are better off with a 509 and good heads than a 540 with junk heads, intake, and exhaust restriction.

Again....Most likely you will sell the boat before upgrading this engine again.

I agree the more I think on it the more I keep leaning that way....and already boat shopping and getting idea for a 32ft so I agree with that. Figuring I'm not only saving money for that he crank but the flywheel and harmonic balancer and such. It all adds up to a new set of heads
