So, back to dyno testing. In our previous testing we found the modded 3 circuit dominator to make mid 650 hp (654/655) vs the modded 4150 making high 670 hp (677/678 ish) (with mufflers). Added another spacer last thursday under modded dominator to get it to 2" vs 1", got hp into high 650s muffled and gave up 10 ft lbs tq (still waaay down vs modded 4150)
So TODAYS dyno testing, lashed valves to .005 exhaust/,006 intake cold as last test they ended up at 14/15 hot and set them to .010 hot, let cool down and set rest to same as THAT pair.Ran 4 carbs today, did 2 pulls w modded dom, 2 pulls with stock dom, several pulls with modded 4150 and DRUM ROLL, 2 pulls with full forces 4150 based QF 1050! Motor did NOT like the .010 hot valves clearance, gave up tq, gave up slight hp, left it however as doing same day, same dyno, same air, same CF testing with all the carbs was more important to me. All these test were muffled, just figure 10+ hp if they were open headers
Modded dom, 2 inch spacer, 656.4 hp 6500 (654.6 at 6300) 1.029 CF (-14.3hp) 616tq at 5100
Stock 1050 dom, 2" spacer, 655 hp at 6300, 1.021 CF (-15.7hp) 617 ft lbs at 5000
Norms modded 4150, 1" spacer. 2" adapter 670.7 hp 6200, 1.022 CF 616.6 tq at 5000
Tims QF 1050 4150, 1" spacer, 2" adapter 654.5 hp 6100, 1.022 Cf (-16.2hp) 607.6 tq at 4900
Same day, same dyno, same air , almost dead identical CF's
So from this, modded dominator was close to stock dominator, Tims carb hp wise is almost identical to both dominators except makes 9 ft lbs tq less and the modded 4150 is just out and out badd ass!
Now, on a side note, tims carb was ran as sent, his afrs at tq peak were 1. 05 apart side to side, and at hp peak were .5 richer than modded 4150 , the modded dominator had this same prob and needed staggered jetting to fix it, the box stock dom did NOT and norms modded 4150 did NOT. Tomorrow I will do a baseline pull with Tims carb, then bolt Norms modded 4150 back on but fatten it up more in a attempt to get hp peak afrs closer to what Tims were to see if modded 4150 still outshines it the same, fun stuff, Smitty

Wonder if a 2 circuit Dom would be better. 3 circuit Dom's are used more for transbrake vehicles or smaller engines where rpms get lower where airflow thru the Dom is not enough in the lower rpm's to pull enough fuel.

So at least I can see my carbs are close to what a Dom does, what was A/F with mine? In boat mine was showing 11.7-12.2 throughout the range...

Probably going to get flamed, but I was pretty sure this is what you were going to see with Dom.
I've seen my builder make 902hp out of a 496 CI with a modded 850, 14:1, super trick cyl heads, huge cam .700+ tho.
Point is bigger carb isn't always better for signal and proper atomization.
