Had a pair of them in my old nova 250. not the most powerfull things, but they had 1300 hours on them and still ran like a top.

If your going thru them. a little bit of a cam and a intake and 4bbl carb would probably wake it up quite a bit (wake it up being a relative term)

I went through so many 302's in my Larson (baddest Pinto on the Bay) so many years ago I was going to put little pictures of motors with red lines going through it on the side of the boat like fighter pilots do on their planes for kills. You can spin a 5.0 up pretty good if you want.

The 888 was the Mercruiser outdrive, Outdrive had a 888 decal on top cap. The motor had 188 horsepower
Have to agree the 188 is HP rating but the even the manual calls it a 888 or 225. The 898 is the GM

Where do you live in Canada? I had a 1972 Glastron that had the 888 engine in it (188 HP). May know of some one that could help you out.

Sort of a comparison of "Rip Van Winkle" to "Sleepy" (seven dwarfs)...
