ok, spoke too soon. then went downstairs and checked a block, intake and dist. the machined sleeve lower on dist centers it in the block. the inside bore on hole in the intake has plenty of clearance. it has no bearing on location or angle of distributor.

I actually found a washer in my "magic toolbox" that fit without ANY grinding that was about 0.5 mm thick.. :)
It's a tall deck intake designed to use a standard distributor.. If anything, my distributor is a bit on the short side. I have about 1/4" oil pump engagement . The cam gear pattern is just a little below center on the distributor gear... I'd LIKE to replace it with a slip collar distributor but not finding much luck finding one that will work.. Has to be marine certified. Slip collar HAS to be a ready to run.. My efi doesn't have a "mag" input Locked out timing. Re-phasable rotor. (my Thunderbolt rotor is phased just the the Crane hi6m was) |

[QUOTE=Boatally Insane;4543005]I'm not sure.. Problem I see is it's a cast aluminum distributor and not round above the flange...
It can be done , I know someone that just did this last week. Slip collar was added to a short deck merc dist. |
Backyard a**hole method. Get a,4.5 right angle grinder and coarse sandpaper pad. Stick dist in dist hole of spare block and rotate dist body while sanding Dia down to match area below clamp flange. That slip collar is only a Lil thicker than the flange. There will be plenty of meat to clamp it to. And we have already ascertained if collar is a couple thousand to one side or the other it won't affect alignment...

Intake fits FINE other than the distributor hole.. Ports line up. front and rear wall is fine..
The distributor gear doesn't rub anywhere. The cam gear pattern is from the center to the bottom 1/4 of the distributor gear. I siliconed a washer to the intake like I mentioned earlier.. took it out today.. no more oil leak.. :) |
Glad to hear it, enjoy !
