Those look awesome Jason, did you guys decide on how tall to make mine. Those look like my intakes....:)

Those spacers be the way to go mike. You'll get that funnel effect which your engines will dig. Honestly I'd keep your 741 cams with a set of those spacers and doms Ram all the air in you can. You might even want 3" if you have the room. This will be a great test. Can always swap out cams but one thing at time. That's just me. Though.

I always felt they could use more cam.

If you only knew how many hours I had port matching the intakes to the heads on both of those engines. Unless you plan on changing the cam I would stick with a 4150 carb. With the setup I had in the Scarab the engines were at max output at 5400 RPM before I got to full throttle. So the HP 950's that came with the engines were big enough. Are you proping for 5700 RPM? That is where they should be. I was going to have the stock Bravo 28's labbed but lost interest in the Scarab since Patty wouldn't let me go to Lake MI anymore and the Scarab was boring on Hardy pond. I don't think the floors were raised. John and I looked at the ports when I pulled the intakes, and we both agreed the heads were just ported, and the floors were not raised. I'm going to run the Dart intakes for now, but if I switch I don't need to have the intakes welded up. |
If you looking to swap out intakes I have one SV 2927 Dom flange. It's at Valakos.
|
I thought about the SV, but I think it's too big for my engine. Isn't that for 540 or larger engines?
|
Theyd work better on larger cubic inch or higher rpm on 500 plus or minus builds without a doubt. They have shorter runners than darts also. I really like the idea of using your current set up with Jason's spacers. You'll actually be tricking your intakes into a tunnel ram. Also will be nice to see if you gain rpm with your doms and no other changes. I would guess you will.
