Starting problems - 454 EFI engine
When I first try to start my boat after it's been sitting on the trailer for a week or so it will never start. The engine just cranks and cranks, and if it does start it stumbles for a couple seconds and then stalls. What I've been doing to remedy this is to release the air out of the fuel rail using the Schrader valve on top of the engine. After cycling the key a few times to generate fuel pressure, I press the valve to release the air. After doing this several times the air gets cleared out and I can start the boat again. Once the air is out and I get the boat running I don't have any problems the rest of the day. I can even park at the beach all day and when I go to leave at the end of the day the boat starts every time. Then, after sitting a week on the trailer again the same symptoms with air in the fuel system crop up again!! Where is this air coming from? All the hoses appear to be intact, so I can't figure out how air is getting in the system. At the beginning of the season this was never a problem, but the last couple months I have had to go through the ritual of clearing the air out of the fuel system every time!! HELP!!!

I am not saying that this is definetly your problem, but it may be something to look at if your motor falls in within these guidelines.
