Another thought is powder coat. You can purchase those kits on eBay right around 100.00. In that small of an area a heat gun will work just as good as an oven. Problem is you'll find yourself powder coating everything especially when you get a hold of some merc blue.

Powder coat, I thought that was electrically apply. Will that process be as good.

it is electrically applied then baked @ around 400* for the powder to cure.

Ls1, I stand corrected. Older models are not coated. Looks like now they are making them to last.
my current cooler covers are from Hardin, 8 plate, and 13 plate are not coated. My stuff is is older so no hard coat.
