I called Imco today to confirm that Gatlins cannot by run dry. Which they confirmed, they cannot! What will happen is the stainless packing inside will burn out. You can have overboard dumps so most of the water goes out through a water dump, but some must go through the exhaust to keep it cool. As far as dB decrease, on average it is a 10 dB decrease.

Either way for me, not a big deal. I don't plan on running dry for the simple reason, I like to talk in my boat.

Anybody try using the long GGB;s and have the water enter say half way down from where they start ?
GGB makes some real long inserts

The nice thing with the GBBs is that you can cut the rings off until you get the sound you like. The next best thing is, they are dirt cheap!
