I believe the L2453 Pistons have a 8cc dish.

Your cam choice also depends on what gen your block is (I'm looking for a new roll cam for my 525sc too). So....I've looked over the crane cam's selection and for gen VI it's 168731 or 168741 which get recommended on here a lot BUT for a gen 5 retro fit, the best replacements would be 139771 for 731 or 139671 for 741, can someone confirm this?

Also I'm looking at comp cam's as their Lifters have larger wheels (.82) and there about 1/2 the total cost of the cranes, the big question is what's the best retrofit comp cam, (they'll also custom grind one for $300 if some has good lobes/ specs)?

I'm still learning, so does anybody know a good comp cam's replacement for the 731/741 for a retrofit roller in a a gen 5 525sc?

Comp has 01-446-11 that is a 525EFI clone near identical to the 741, but it says nothing about GenV.

The 525SC is a gen 5 or a 6? Can't you tell by timing cover?

It can be a mark IV, gen V, or gen VI.

There should be some small stamping on the head deck in front of the valve covers where the fuel pump/raw water pump is. XF is mark IV, Gen 5 will have a XA/UA, and I'm not sure on Gen 6.

Gen 5 will need a retrofit roller set up and gen 6 should have factory rollers in it.

It's a 5 but it has the bosses for the spider to hold the roller lifters in place.. And the cam that's in it wouldn't work in a 6 because of timing cover I guess.

Or a better question...how do they have a camshaft from a early model block in a gen 6?
