Got started on the fuel system and thought it would take about an hour. Right!! I decided to got to the -10 on the suction instead of the -8 this time. can I do number -8 after the pump?
|
Greg, looks great. Keep the pictures coming. Kinda makes me wish I would go for a project boat.
|
Mean looking mill HP. You'll need clearance from the FAA when that prop starts turning.
|
US1 Jerry whats going on in your stall? Did I see a bunch of key parts being sold like blower stuff? Do you still have the Fountain? Are you buying something different?
GLH, Thanks ...I hope its mean enough! Is that your boat as an avatar? Greg |
Greg,
Yep, sold it all. Hoping to get in the 32' range. |
US, Another fountain?
|
;)
|
No comment Huh. How about a 96 or 97 42' with trip hp500's ? Theres one in town here always kept inside and has no fading and is almost perfect. I htink he wants 125-135K Dont quote that but almost sure thats what he wants. The boat is truly nice. Greg

Man you remind me of myself!!! You are puttin a LOT of lovin into that thing!!!! :D:D
If you do not mind me making some suggestions on your sub boxes? Hope not cuz I am going to say it anyhow :D:D First off PLEASE tell me with all the lovin you are giving this thing you are seeling that wood with epoxy or polyester? Second Plywood does not make a very good Sub enclosure. It will work and work well but if you want to take it to the next level try lining the inside of the box with MDF and EPOXYING it to the inside of the box you have :D:D The density will keep the power of the driver going FORWARD and not let the box flex. YES FLEX!!! The preasure on the inside of the sub can be UNREAL. We built a box the other day with a speaker we knew very little about, and the preasure was not perfectly equal and it blew the cone to a million little pits :D:D The other thing that the MDF will do is to creat a certain resinence that will be better then the plywood. I hope you do not mind my suggestions. Anyhow the boat is going to look awsome and keep the pictures rolling. |
Lovin aint the only thing!!! I am aware of what your saying about the mdf. I used 3/4 inch plywood and ran the grain thin the strongest direction. Its glued and screwed as well. No its not resined either but I'm figuring that Ill need new subs soon. I bought these Orion Extreme xtr 2250 amps with fans on them and the guy I bought them from said that he had a hard time keeping a set of speakers around. Subs that is. So I may be back in to those boxes And at that time I will have to fix it. The boxes have .91 cu ft volume now. Correct me if Im wrong but if I glue mdf to the inside of my existing boxes won't I further reduce the volume? How critical is that volume? The front of those boxes are only 1/2" thick ( the original upholstered panel,) but most of it is cut out for the speaker. Have you ever heard of Orion amps? Greg
|
Audio,
Any new pictures on your project yet? |
Yup I have heard of Orion amps. They are VERY Good. They use up a lot of power so you may find a need for a second house battery. They do have GOBBS of power. The reason the subs are blowing is incorrect enclosures (just like my story) If I had build the enclosure correctly then that would not have happened. If you are not building ported enclosures then you are at a advantage as to design. They are MUCH esier to build as you just do so to the enclosure. You could build the boxes baffle (the part the sub mounts in) and put that up against the back of the trim piece that you are saying is thin. 1/2 inch material is REALLY to small. I like to go 1" for my baffle. To answer your other question about the box size changing yes you will change the volume. You just have to measure the box and find out if the new size is ok for the subs you have. If you are a little small that is ok. STUFF the box with Polly fill :D:D
You should NOT have a problem with blowing your subs. Not if the stuff is set up correctly and boxes built properly. Jon |
Where do I get poly fill? Is it the same as the pillow stuffing? Greg

Hi guys. The motor is still not in and the beers gone! I'm off the highway and on the dirt road again with little side projects. The fuel system reared its ugly head so I slayed that thing and then the solenoids, relay and plug-in had nowhere to go so I made bracket for those things. Maybe this weekend I can get something done! Heres the latest progress...Fuel regulator

I looked at some pictures of some HP500 brackets and made this one. I hope it clears.

HP -
Looks great so far. Is that an electrical sending unit on the fuel regulator? Running a blower, I'd go with a mechanical gauge if I were you. You know how critical fuel pressure is to a blower motor. Just my 2 cents. Looks nice!!! |

Finally got it in! Its aligned and ready to rig. Now I have to mount my Msd, batterys, switch, Oil res., trim pump, diamond plate, and more. Whew its still alot. More photos to come.

Lookin Good HPJunkie!
Yea you still have a lot to do, but you can see the light at the end on the tunnel and you still have time to finish before boating season is here. Keep the pictures coming. This baby is going to rock with that kind of power. Oh yea stereo too. |

Well guys, back in the garage! Sick for a week and didnt have the energy to do anything. Finally decided how to do the batteries. L or R or both on one side or what. Both on the starboard. I bought some 1/0 or 0/1 ( which ever) welding cable for the custom cables I needed. They were really easy to make. Greg

Look at the size of that cable!

Both batts on the drivers side. Worked out good.

Man, I wish I would have looked at this thread sooner. What an awesome project. I envy tou guys that do this. I am not real mechanical but I have a friend who is. I would like to pay him to let me help him with a project like this soon. He installed the new motor in my Donzi. I have talked to him about building an air boat soon. Then I may move to a project like this to replace my current Donzi.
|
Its fun but its huge! When do you stop. Perfectionism is not the problem to have on a project like this. I have some new photos to post soon. Greg
|
Great thread!
Looks like some work there. |
HpJunky looking good. Sorry for the delayed respons on the poly fill but yes you use the same stuff as for pillows. :D:D If ya want I will sell ya some special speaker stuff for a lot of money but I will have to figure out how to get the pillow logo off the bag :D:D

HPJ, great looking stuff you got goin on...keep posting.

Took the boat in last week to get buffed down and some holes fixed. In the mean time I had to fix the bunks that were rotten.

Can chrome fenders be fixed without rechroming? It needs some hammering. I dont want to do it myself, but I could hire a body man. New ones are about $400.

Heres the home for the head unit. This 250 Eagle doesnt have a real good spot to put one. The upholstery guy came up with this idea.

The dash is done and it works! Whew. I may have posted this before. These things are hard to keep an eye on. I have driven it by now but Ill keep posting the new photos.
|

This photo shows the dash as well as the new floor and ss seat base installed. I'm pleased with the look what do you guys think?
|

This angle shows where the subs are located. It does rock indeed! You can see the seat base that now holds 5 skis! The holes are for pitching ropes so there off of the floor.
