SB, you are correct. Wish I had time to wrench on it daily one problem at a time. Work will not allow that luxury. Fuel pump O rings were dust. Modual has some corrosion. Distributer bolts are 5.00 at autozone. Just trying to tackle it all before the weekend rolls around again.

BTW: Did you know that the hold down and bolt grounds the distributor housing ? The gasket between the housing and the intake manifold prevents that area from grounding...so...the hold down has to do the grounding,

Another question - do you know how to put your system into base timing mode so you can set the dist's position and thus the base timing ?

There is a DLC connector in the metal box on the port side top of the motor. Inside there is a connector with a cap. Remove the cap and install a paper clip which puts it in base timing mode. Remove the paper clip when adjustment is set.

Paper clip tech tip:
Obviously black paper clips are coated in plastic, so you have to grind the coating off the ends to make the metal exposed.

But many people don't realize bare metal paperclips are actually coated in clear plastic, so make sure to grind the plastic off it's ends and verify you are down to metal.

Double check, but I believe the MPI's are set to 8*BTDC base timing. After adjustment and then you tighten down the hold down, double check the timing because that minute movement can and will change it a few degrees.

Replaced the fuel pump and regulator. Checked the time. Runs as it should now.
