Carb to EFI swap on 525sc??
Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Just wondering if anybody has ever swapped out the carbs on a 525SC for an EFI unit? I have one carb that is dumping fuel at lower RPMs and hoping a simple cleaning with minor adjustments will fix the issue vs a rebuild. So I am naturally wondering if a switch to fuel injection would be possible.

gonna be watching this one  i often thought one of the FI-Tech or FAST systems would be a cool fit on that engine (provided its possible)

Don't see why you couldn't throw Holley throttle bodies on top pretty simple install...

Carb rebuilds are cheap fyi..
|
1st carburetor my wife (early on while we where dating) learned how to rebuild was a Factory Merc Dom from a 525SC. I did one while she followed along on the other,
True story, Holley's are the easiest thing to rebuild out of all carbs and fuel injection, |
I'm glad to hear that rebuilds are cheap and easy. Was just wondering if anybody had done a conversion since you see it all the time in the automotive world.

Would think for he money you could change out power valves to 2.5 or 3.5 and take care of the idle loading up issue and save yourself a few thousand and have less stuff to break. That being said I love efi, but there comes a time when you are throwing good money at bad. |
I've never heard of anybody doing it. It sounds like you've got a bad powervalve or needle and seat assembly.
Other than having to let it idle at 1000rpms for 1-2 mins on a cold start, mine idled and ran like an EFI. Bump your neutral idle speed to about 800 rpms and play with the idle screws. |
holley just released a new EFI setup for supercharged applications....they don't have it set up to run dual throttle bodies yet which is why I haven't considered it...however in a single carb application like yours it looks to be the most reliable and inexpensive by far...you do need a dry section of exhaust however to run the O2 sensor....but it is self tuning and looks like a breeze to setup...haven't seen one but have seen automotive holley efi add ons and if it were me that would be my choice hands down

Hey Jason, Mark Rinda at MER in Myrtle Beach has done quite a few Holley setups. He would be a good one to ask.
