Default 2003 496 mag ho serial number OM383059 fuel pump

folks,
apparentky the high pressure pump is no longer available and I have to replace the entire cool fuel assembly to the tune of $600 bucks. I'm sure you creative people have a lower budget work around. Does anyone have a part number for just the pump I need. It is related to service bulletin 861156a02 I'm on my way to the marina now.

It comes as a complete kit - new fuel cooler and pump

I can sell it cheaper than 600 bucks and shipped Let me know.

Warning it is important to get the right one. The cool fuel kits are specific to the engine apps.

Ok I bit the bullet and installed the entire kit. Problem solved. The ole 496 runs like a raped ape.

thanks for all the help. I learned a ton. And got some new tools. That's a win win.

yes like I said it comes as a whole kit and there is 3 different kits. one has to buy the correct kit per the app.. Was just saying,. And installed the complete kit correctly. There is few things that can get missed by whomever on the install.

BUP and Team,

I bought the MerCruiser kit. It worked perfectly and had everything I needed in the kit including the thermal paste and new system O-rings. It appears that the fuel line interface to the cooler has been redesigned. Not sure of the differences but it assembles the same and looks similar.

It was $590 bucks with the NY State taxes applied. I was not happy about the price, but I would be more unhappy if my bilge filled with fuel and blew us up. All in all I'm glad I went down this path as the boat is up and running like a fuel injected raped ape.

Thank to BUP for all the great internet advice. I learned a lot and spent a hot sweaty summer day getting intimate with my Big Block.
