Oil Pressure - 525EFI
Hello,
Twin 525 EFI's in my 2005 35 Outlaw. 155 freshwater, low RPM hours. OEM oil and filter change each 25hours per the book. Question, at idle, one sits around 65psi the other around 72psi. I suppose two engines are not going to be identical, but can anyone comment on the recommended oil pressure range? These are numbers from this weekend, right after a change. 8 quarts per the book (which put the level a little above full range on the stick)

Well, this is concerning as I am 2-3x higher than specs. Ive owned the boat for 55hours, this is my 2nd oil change, and have always had the specs I posted. Both analog and smartcraft reading the respective oil pressures. Idle in/out of gear and WOT RPMs are right in line with your reply BUP. Not sure what my next step is....??

I'm over thinking this, as an example the stock 502 manual 23 says it shall have a minimum of 4 psi at idle. The owners manual for the 525 states as BUP mentioned a minimum of 20 psi at idle. The key is the word "minimum" , it can have and in most cases does have more

Thanks All. Made a quick call to our friends at Merc Racing who confirmed that Minimum is the operative word. I am above mins indicating good oil pressure and each engine is different based on tightness, type of oil, etc. Merc doesnt publish (nor is there an alarm) for high oil pressure they said. Lastly, check oil level with boat in water (not on trailer) and dont be too (ie, an inch) over the full line on the stick. 8 qts on the change, I tend to run 1/8 to 1/4 inch over the full mark so didnt seem to cause concern.
Net, net I think things are in good shape! Appreciate all the quick replies!
