So the plot thickens with the heads....just spoke with the machine shop and he’s telling me that the guides get tight at the bottom and are less than .001 clearance....explains why it stuck....he’s also telling me that the valves are REV brand I guess and there are 5 bent intake valves and 2 more exhaust valves bent and I need all new valves....I tried to not blow up and politely asked him how the f@$k this could happen as they “went through” and “built” the heads 2 months ago and said they where fine....his answer...idk I didn’t go through these the first time another guy here did....I don’t even know where to begin with this....should I dump money into these dart heads or put the money towards a different head?? Haven’t priced out valves yet but I’m sure they’re not cheap!!

The last thing I ever wanted to be was a boat mechanic or engine builder, but with similar results as you with local shops I finally bought many more tools and do as much as I can. I’ve found bellows with no sealant, incorrect wire sizes and the list goes on. Sounds like you need to talk to someone hire up than the monkey you had on the phone.

ADK61 here has always been helpful here and can give you heads already set up for marine use. You may be better selling your castings and going that route if the machine shop doesn’t get there chit straight.

Id rig up at least a temporary mechanical psi gauge to see what kind of water psi you are seeing in the engine. If youre seeing 140* at the front of the engine, its quite possible youre seeing close to 200* at the back like rookie said. Which is no good for sticking valves, detonation , etc.
meant to quote you when asking about your fuel burn

I’m in southwest Michigan and like I said in the other thread if they don’t make this right I will be going after a refund and taking them somewhere else...I have confidence in them and don’t know what happened if it was bad communication within their shop or what but I will NOT be giving them any more money to fix something I paid them to do already....should get an answer today on what they’re gonna do so we’ll see
