Thanks for that info - do you know if it was plumbed with any return line? Or was it just a series connection of tank - elec pump - mech pump - carb?

you need to get rid of the electric and plumb like F-2 drew out but without the electric. also if there is no shut off on the crossover to the other tank it will do nothing because if one tank goes empty then both motors will pull air from the empty tank. really you should just delete the crossover and run two complete independent systems. I would do that and then go run it. right now the mech pump is doing nothing but circulating fuel in a loop thru the elect pump. make sure you have the biggest needle and seats in the carbs, run it on the mech pumps alone and see what happens.

Also looks like long runs of fuel lines as well. The shorter the runs the better fuel delivery one will have. Did some car drag racer set this fuel system up in your boat ? Also IMO looks like a fuel fire waiting to happen in that set up. Very poor and improper wiring and very poor exposed bad crimps / terminals. That would NEVER pass a USCG inspection just for the wiring / terminal / crimp install alone. Sorry for the blunt post but possible saving a train wreck waiting to happen. The heck with the engine not running right - heck I would be worried about the time bomb in that boat. |

Sorry but I have not read many of the posts here. Maybe I will but I have to ask who on earth set up and installed that fuel system ?? That is some crazy puzzle or maze 4 sure ...

I say you have a few problems (timing and fuel). I would think from the picture above, you're robbing fuel flow from the carb and sending it back to the filter head. No return line on the system I posted about yesterday.

This is how I bought it in June. Prior owner had the engines built in 2014 and installed by the shop at the marina; I have no idea how much of the fuel rigging was already in place prior to that.

I realize that - I have no idea if anyone else pointed that out but I did. Get it all done for a safely correct install. Harbor fright spade terminals in a boat is improper install PERIOD. Also they provide extremely poor connections and all are exposed. You have prob bad power and grounds on top of the mix. Good luck with it.

I was so focusssed on the fuel plumbing I ignorantly overlooked the wiring. I bought an older boat years ago that the local marina always had maintained and were electrical/fuel hazards everywhere. Obviously this particular marina had no business working on boats. At least anything under the hatch. It was a hot mess. Regardless I could see why your going to leave it to a professional but your gonna drop some bucks. Some of the obvious and easy to do you could do yourself by doing as most agree and remove everything including the filter heads and purchase a couple online for like 26.00 each with two half inch ports and run good mechanical pumps. Your current ones are 6 AN I believe with pipe and reduced fittings in many places. Well at the very least you asked for help and you definately got it. I hope for the best and I'm certain under the right care you'll be just fine. |
