Default 500 EFI t'stats

Anyone know if there's a way to test an oil t'stat? I know you can boil a water stat to see if it opens - anything similar with an oil stat? Thanks for any help!

Same. the t-stats are designed/made the same.ie: wax pellet that moves the disc open.

Might be stamped on the Tstat. Mine opens at 212F but is Hardin Marine. I thought the 500 EFI was supposed to open at 190F

I warmed up brand new motor oil the reason why I use motor oil because of 2 reason.

One to simulate the world it lives in and 2 is I am NOT 100 percent sure using water that corrosion or tad of it would take place however

Merc part number is 816153 and like I said - not sure how well it will do in water. It is not like a water / coolant T stat at all. For whomever has never seen one inwhich I have no idea. Would think not everyone has seen these. Just saying.
