Merc 454 Gen VI 10 pin help

Hi, looking for some help. This is a 1996 motor and I’m trying to power it out of the boat to rotated to check compression. Then, I want to try to start it and run. I’m not sure which pins to connect to on the harness

Pin 6 (Red/Pur) to Pin 5 (purple) = ignition ON
Pin 6 to 7 (Yel/Red) = engine crank

thank you. My only question is I have a 10 pin connector with two pins in the middle with 8 around it... no numbers

Maybe I need to take the harness apart and match to the colors, not the look of the connector?

Just look at the connector and match it up to the pic in previous post. Note where the two larger pins are (1 and 6). Once you figure out which is pin 6, then your just working with the pins on each side
