Make sure it’s shimmed properly, too.

Ryan, I installed the shortest and thickest cable I could find (size 1ot) and it’s full of spunk now. I had the ends wedged/crimped on at the local battery store

good luck

That ring gear looks funny with the teeth like it was to hard. What's the motor combo?

Have not seen a starter knock teeth off like that for no reason. Something other than the starter did that.

557 cid, 650 hp, 9.3 compression. starter bendix's half the time wouldnt come out all the way, buzzing the ring gear. put the exact ring gear back on and used some new tilton super starters and havent had a problem since. MSD told me they had problems with them, then when they found out i wanted labor time to pull 2 boat engines they lied and said they never had problems with them. then after six months of avoiding me the best they could they agreed to pay 2K for the repairs. which they reneged on 24 hours later. keep in mind this ruined my once a year boating vacation and knocked out over half my summers boating. took ten years to save and build these engines. MSD products are crap. btw at least summit stepped up and refunded the starters that MSD still had in their possession. screw their ignitions too, been using daytona cd-1 boxes, they are great.
