A mark iv crank will work in a gen 6 block but you will have to convert to a two piece rear seal, mark 4 cam will not fit/work in a Gen 6 pistons and rods are all interchangeable as well as the heads. Flat lifters will work but don,t make much sense to use them when it's made for rollers. Oil pans are not interchangeable along with the timing chain and sprockets.

there is no such thing as a mark v block, their is mark iv,gen 5 and gen 6.both gen 5 and gen 6 use a one piece rear main seal.gen 6 is the only one that comes with a step nose cam but all big blocks can be used with a step nose cam.the cam from the gen 5 can be used in a gen 6 block.the gen 5 heads will work on the gen 6 block.

You will need to check and double check every machined surface no matter what block you choose. You need a good machine shop and some accurate measuring tools to end up with anything worth your time. I also prefer the Dart big M

dart leaves the lifter bores a little small so the builder can size them to their lifter of choice.dart puts this information in the paperwork that comes with every big m block.
