We bolted a ported standard performer intake on and picked up somewhere around 20 to 30 ft lbs tq and almost 10 hp (on top), #3 cyl at wot was over 2.5 points leaner than the average of other ones though. We took it off and put agm zz502 intake on which looks identical to me to a perfomer rpm and picked up even more tq, thruout whole range and a small hp gain on top. down in the 3600 to 4500 range I think overall he picked up around 50 ft lbs over open plenum. I will say this though, the vic jr was bolted on out of the box and had smaller ports than the heads , the zz502 intake was stock too, Smitty
My ZZ502 engine came with The Eddy Performer RPM and the thing was a torque monster straight from idle and pulled hard up to 5600 until I re-propped.

Was wondering if you ever did any dyno with the old twisted Torker intake and how the AFR were?

I am fan of the Brodix Alum heads. and they have couple of new intakes on the market that have done well.

We tried one on a 468, it was basically a turd compared to the RPM airgap. Way less torque across the board with no more HP all the way to 6400 rpm. A/F ratios were all over the place, it may work better on a different motor.

Just get what everybody knows is correct and be done with it. Air Gap dual plane, you are not building a 1,000hp offshore boat.

Yes. Also with Comp Cams Magnum rockers that freed up some rev as well.

Yes carb setup. Im running the merlin 320cc runner heads on a 496. Im still looking for a cam but figure I will end up with something like the merc 525 or crane 731 cam.

400 million years ago, I tuned a few different cars at the track with those intakes. A low compression 454 and a few higher compression 454's.

The intakes sucked bad. But, they fit under some low hood heights and we found out that was the only reason they where made.

This was before Eddy RPM days, but Dart had had just come out with their single plane intakes and that was that. Weiand dual planes or Vic Jrs or Holley Strip Dominators or Darts for those cars.
