If the OP is serious about getting into this hobby with little to no experience of these types of boats, they should be looking at something like a 35-40 Baja. 502s or 496s with bravos in a big predictable hull.

I ended up getting a Monte Carlo Offshorer 30. Twin 454 crusaders, V drives and shafts. Old banger, but a classic in the Med. Let's see how it goes.
