I would think JE must have a shelf labeled specifically for shafiroff loaded with various custom pistons for all the secret combos. Definately fun to navigate their website. I just looked and the two low deck 615/925 pump gas builds. The solid roller 925@6,200 and the hyd roller 925@6,500???

I see there has been more and more of the large CI taking it to a how new level over the last (which is now actually several years). Why not push the limits... Just not that combo for me as all.
Well we happen to own one of those engines. It has more than several dyno pulls on the drag strip. We first put the engine in a 79 pro street camaro. With M/T street legal big sportsman tires weighing 3280lbs. the car ran [email protected]. We than pulled the engine, sold the camaro and bought an old pro stock car, an 05 grand am. At pro stock weight, 2350 with driver, the car ran [email protected]. This was running fairly conservative shifting at 6,000. Engine makes another 50-75 horse in the high 6 to low 7000 range.

That’s good to here and know seriously. Makes me kinda jealous actually when I coulda went that route rather than 565’s and picked some worthy power. Already have new rotating assemblies. Went old school 4,600, 4.25, 6.385 combo. That’s what I like about topics on OSO.

They actually have a new race version ( all upgraded components lifters, rockers, etc. 15.5 compression! Serious money $24k) of the 615 low deck with 20 degree heads that makes 1215hp.

I’m guessing it’s the middle combo. 1.1” seems typical.

SBC guys were running more extreme rod ratios and compression heights than stroked BBCs for years. Only a matter of time before someone decided to try them.

I also thought I had a unique idea to help do this, but it turns out piston buttons are already a thing. Nothing new under the sun I tell ya.

Why would you want a low deck block with that much stroke in a boat ? Not a sarcastic question.

Why would I want a 615 instead of a 565? I don’t really need to explain that do I?
