Hi.
Got a Mercruiser 496 Mag Ho witch I took out for the first time after winter.
I noticed that the oil pressure was varying with the RPM.
I think I had about 35 psi on idling, when cruising on 3000 rpm I think it was about 45 psi and when going back to idle it dropped to about 22-25 psi, and then building up to 35 again.
is this normal? Can’t say I noticed this last year.
by the way, I got the pro charger turbo system installed if that matters.

Oil pressure will change with RPM because because oil pump speed changes. Don’t know the specs on 496 but 35 at hot idle sounds great. Pressure drop after a run is due to oil getting hot and then comes back up as oil cools at idle. My opinion- note what you have and watch for change over summer, that would indicate a problem.
