Curious, what oil are you running in those monsters?
Not at all implying oil had anything to do with the failure, just curious.

I think a lot of the problems we are seeing in hydraulic lifters is due to valve train stability. I've seen a lot of dyno runs where you can see where the valve train becomes unstable and that is on a stationary engine. I believe that a lot of our problems are due to oil control and oil aeration. I have learned so much about how critical oil control is especially in the marine environment since I rebuilt my motor. If I have to pull the motor I will replace the pan with something way more expensive than what I have. I bounce around pretty good on Lake Huron and my oil is everywhere but the bottom of the pan. I use a Master Lube pre-oiler, that I also use as an accumulator when I'm in rough water. But I know that's not enough to maintain constant non-aerated oil to my lifters. Just my 2 cents.
