Impressive engines KW!!
RFD is going to soften the quench in the heads that will help with premature detonation. Soften the quench? |

Smitty the one thing you can't see is the intakes have either 2 or 2.5 inch stuffers in them, I can't remember. Hogan built them with big enough plenum so they could add length to the runners. We ended up doing that to get our torque curve where we wanted it. Sorry I dont have any pictures of the inside of the intake.

I’m calling Rogan tomorrow and keep you posted. Always heard great things and jim b has as well. I wanna get port bungs for port injection at a later date but will stay with 4150’s on top for this coming season for simplicity.

I LOVE those intakes and I like that idea of extra runner length, when I dyno 454's/ 502's with typical open plenum intakes, the tq is nothing to write home about having 4.5" or so average runner length to head. bumping compression up on those little engines helps, advancing cams helps but in end, Ive seen modified long runner merc intakes kick their ass when it comes to torque. On the other hand, all the mods in the world wont get a long runner merc intake to ever make any "real" hp like a open plenum on top and of course with their smallish runners even modified they would die especially early on anything much over 515 ci. With about a 6' runner length, the edelbrock proflows that resemble your intakes carry well on top and make OK tq. , the next step up is a tunnel ram or a custom intake like what you have. Id love to see a front mounted TB production intake with a 8 or 9" runner and plenty of plenum volume but it doesnt exist. I made about 695 hp/620 tq from a 502 with small cam with a proflow and oval afr heads a few years ago, I recently made around 685 hp but with tq around 640 with a 515 with a few degrees less duration then the previous one mentioned and ICL moved down, also on 89 with oval port AFR heads. I have few more of those intakes BUT in rectangle port version and have yet to see how they really perform, or find their limitations, Smitty

Smitty, i came across this pic year or two ago. I’d be damned I can’t find anything on this intake anywhere. It has to be somewhere.

GM made a intake like that way back when, they were after longer runners without going too high.
I think I recall engine masters testing it in one of the intake shootout episodes . |

they cnc the quench area of the head to slow and control the burn rate. Helps In boosted and nitrous apps.
