Anyone using this filter in place of the Wix 51222R. Looking for something with a lower micron rating but that will still do the job. The specs look about the same.

These are NOT the same filter.

Eddie Young built my motor and he said to use 51060R (61 micron with drain back valve). The motor is not in a dirty environment like a auto

Damn, you have the 1-1/2" thread? I guess all of the cross reference places are wrong. I believe we ran those in the race boat. It was a pain finding filters for the non-standard BBC filter head. I believe we ran a Fram filter. I'll see if there are some still laying around.

performance engineering did my motors and said not to use the racing filters as they were meant to be changed say after every race in a car car. ive tried both and never noticed any pressure changes so why not go with the better filtration?

now i'm really confused.......
