NA 565’s.

I’m thinking you puked some fluid out the cooler, it lost pressure, slipped, got hot and now needs clutches, steels, seals. Not a big deal to do on that trans.

About 10 seconds before day gone bad

I've lost a tranny in the past by it not engaging 100% in the forward dedent... ran for 30 minutes and was toast... I've set up pressure sensors now wired into the Holley ECM's to monitor and alarm them.... Marc said the pressure is more important than the temperature!

Sounds like you need to dig into the coolers as something has let go --- oil and water shouldn't be mixing. Good Luck!

Update - As Tom mentioned the possibility of drive failure causing more pressure on the rear seal. Unfortunately turns out that drive is fked. It’s far from turning over freely and doesn’t feel right at all. Very difficult to turn in either direction. So now a drive and tranny in order. The drive is a bigger concern now. Fun fun!!!

Actually, my issue was at the pump up front caused by the drive plate ejecting springs and screwing the alignment.

Seems to me it's probably the transmission and not the drive. I'd get the drive off to see what it feels like disengaged from the trans. Maybe an issue in the tailstock?

i have a pair of huber 1550s that have been mothballed for 10 years we are now restoring the boat and i,m thinking new tranny seals are good preventative thing to do or should i not open them up they look good no rubber checking

I’d think soaking in oil for a couple days would be ok but what do I know other than bad luck. I’ll pull my drive and see if ok less shaft. Good point Tom but I just don’t get that lucky but maybe.

I had one of my 1500's blow a front seal out a few weeks ago out of nowhere. It was just sitting on the shaft when I took the trans out it dumped all the fluid into my bilge. I feel your pain lol
