would you be interested in selling that box and steering system? Where in PA are you??? I might even be willing to drive down and help you remove it. If you need stock sterrign parts i have some that we could work intoa deal. What kind of extension box is it? nuetral or +3"??? Who makes it???

What brand? Most just unbolt. A couple of sockets, some extensions and hoist is all you need.

It depends on how the steering is set up, but if you have a bracket that is stepping out your steering then you can just replace that and the lines going to the steering pistons and you will be set there. If you have exteneded Rams then you will need to replace them. The caps for the transom you can probably make at a machine shop for cheap.

My box was sealed on/ glued on with 5200 and with the bolts out it was still stuck on. Lifting the transom with a jack under the box. It finally broke free and took a bit of gelcoat with it.

if this a stellings setup,
you will need a new engine/drive coupler,
merc p/n 861523a, transom assy seal,
merc p/n 43713, and some misc. hardware,
(nuts, bolts, etc)
the steering question is dependant on setup,
you may have to run a drive spacer due to hi x dim.

why are you taking it off

Default stellings ext box

i want to keep my ext steering, there is 8" brackets that extend the ram out, so i guess i just need to get stock brackets.

reason for removal i have 25 active thunder w/ 500hp the boat porpuses badly and the speed is not where it should be based of other 25 thunder owners there boats do not porpus, and gordo who races the one vision 25 thunder boat said he tryed a 12"ext box like mine and slowed down and handeled badly so he took it back off. im told a 25 thunder does not need a ext box to short of boat.

I own Gordo's old box. Check your inner transom plate. If they used the stock one, then you'll need to replace it. If they used a Stellings plate, then get a stock one to use in it's place. There is a fellow on the general discussion that is looking for a extension box, so you can proably setup a quick sale.
