After reading through this thread, am I understanding that I can just re-use my old GenV 454 flywheel for my new build 454 bored over to 496 and stroked?

I did buy an upgraded harmonic balancer. no way I’d use the old one on a motor making double the power.

You should have had the flywheel and new balancer with it when the engine was balanced. Internal or external balance with the new rotating assembly?

it’s already internally balanced. Forged internals. Didn’t come with a flywheel or harmonic dampener

Therefore, you’re flywheel and dampener need to be for neutral balance.

Did you have these ‘kit’ parts checked for measurements and balance ?

you need a new flywheel that doesn't have the extra weight added to it.its in the form of a large casting bump out from the outer edge.

You can have your flywheel neutral balanced. Any machine shop that does crankshaft balancing should be able to do it for you.

Which damper did you buy ? It needs to be internal balance also.

I have chucked them in a brake lathe and removed the weight and then just had the final balance done with the rotating assy.

both are internally balanced and SFI spec 18-1

I would go with the ATI for sure. One thing with the ATI damper. They almost always need the hub to be honed to get the proper interference fit. They are almost always too tight. If you order it directly from ATI and you have a way to precisely measure your crankshaft snout, they will hone it to the correct fit. Otherwise most good machine shops should be able to do it for you although a lot of guys do not have the correct mandrel for the rod hone to do the job.
