The issue was a blown exhaust riser gasket by the way.

had the exhaust flange milled flat and threw on some new gaskets and that cleared up the issue.

Yes it was a good learning experience.

i went through all the motions pressurizing the block, I pulled the oil cooler off and pressure tested that, finally I got to the exhaust manifolds and I plugged the upper npt outlet and pressurized the manifold from the lower npt fitting and that’s where I found the pressure leak.

Ran the boat hard all summer and no issues since. Wish I would have checked that first though.
