Twin filters are mounted remotely. I assume they will fit most, if not all remote filter housings

As another note, i use tons of Wix 51061 (napa 1061) and wix 51069 (napa 1069) every year for 30+ yrs now. I have had 5 this year, have the large rubber oring come off filter and stay on block and remote filter adapters. Yeh, always check, but never run into it until this year. I barely use the xp series. Usually only when water or coolant contaminated oil and flushing out. So, made me feel more uneasy about the xp series…ie: finding that issue with one. |

Yes it's a fuel injected 3.3L whipple. A/F ratios run in the high 12s to 13 at idle and work their way down to about 11.5 at WOT 8lbs of boost.
What engine temps are you running? Seems like an awfully short run time for fuel dilution. 20hrs. |
It is closed loop cooling. It would run coolant temps up to 170 so I've installed a larger heat exchanger over the winter that I have yet to try. Whipple wants it to run around 150.
The oil would get up to 220 before the cooler so I have installed a 13 plate box cooler over the winter with a thermostat. We will see how it does soon. When I'm talking beginning to get fuel dilution it's a very small amount. We're talking viscocity @ 100C ASTM D445 from 13.6 dropping to 13.0. |

Wix are good I think. I run a Wix 33405 fuel filter on my own boat.
The thing that I don't like about the Wix oil filters are the racing ones that have a 61 micron rating and people use them on their non racing engines. I feel you need more filtration than that on an engine that isn't getting the oil changed between motos etc. Not the filter's fault, just the application people choose to use it in I don't think is right often times. |

I cant find the article now but read a reply, from possibly WIX or some other filter company, that stated the racing filters are not to used on daily use engine. Basically the larger micron rating is to help oil flow in race engines..they only care about trapping larger particles since the engines get torn down and rebuilt more often. So for daily or long term use they say to stay with the standard filters.
Considering that most boaters don't really put hundreds of hours on a boat per season and change the oil every season i don't see a problem using the racing filters. A human hair is at 70 microns....a grain of table salt is 120 microns. So a racing filter at 61 microns is plenty good in my eyes being changed once a year. |
