Just curious, is anyone concerned with corrosion on these heads in fresh water? Some other marine brands use some sort of coatings to prevent this.

My engine/head builder has about 20 sets of Promaxx heads out there and hasn't mentioned anything about corrosion and from the ones I have seen don't look to have issues with corrosion. I have about 13yrs on my Dart Pro1 heads in fresh water with not internal coating and they still look great. I have used the magnesium pencil anodes at times.

In fresh water? ive seen a tiny bit of rot on all aluminum heads that werent coated and minor rot at water passage openings even on ones that were coated where there's un coated machine surfaces near gasket opening in fresh water. Now salt water, thats a different story, aluminum heads rot like sugar cubes

Thanks guys. I was wondering about the pencil anodes. Sounds like i don't need to worry too much. Appreciate the replies.

And good protection antifreeze during winter layup. The rv stuff most use is not so good at this.
most forget that most boats are put away for 6mos or more and corrosion never slees.

Hard coat anodizing is pretty resistant.

It would be interesting to see how they would fare. Machined surfaced though would not be good at all.

I am aware the power steering belt is too wide. It's just installed for a visual aid.

I got a question for you.

Looks like my belt alignment is now off with the new Pro Maxx heads.

Is the best course of action to shave the mounting bracket down to bring the power steering closer to the block?

Any tips for checking belt alignment other than just sight?

Thank you

Looking Great!!!

The belt appears to fit the water pump pulley nicely, but it does look a little proud on the PS pulley.

You're saying the Promaxx head end is a bit longer than it's supposed to be?

From the photo, it looks like the PS pulley is cocked a little to port side.

If you have a PS pump pulley installer/remover, you may be able to move the pylley back on the PS pump shaft IOT align with the water pump pulley.

Thanks for the compliment.

Sea pump belt looks fine. PS and ALT seem to be off. Too far forward. It's the same set up that came off the engine with the old iron heads. Only thing changed since then is the aluminum heads.

It's been so long since I had an engine, I'll admit my memory isn't real good, and the pics I took don't show much as far as alignment.

Kinda wondering if the Promaxx head is slightly longer than the OEM?

I do not have a pulley puller. I was thinking I may need to shave the power steering bracket down to get them back into alignment. There are slightly raised areas around the mounting bolt holes. Didn't know if those were for minor adjustments?
